So, World Cup #2 is gone, it
was pretty exciting event as the La Pilastra hole allowed you to do
variety of moves. It's located just near Salt in sweet park, but for
last week it was one of the loudest places near Girona when best
Freestyle Kayakers over the world were fighting for medals in their
categories.
We spent alot of time
training, typically for World class events, getting up just with the
sun to get those few extra runs
Then we had great opening
ceremony with drummers parade
and then it was time for
competition.
I've finally started getting used to plastic boat, my rides got quite regular and solid, so i was definitly looking for better score then in Millau. I was quite nervous as i was in first heat again, which means setting the bar was up to me, which kinda affected my runs – with 2 prelim runs i flashed 3 times! Depiste of it, i managed to finish up at 14th place. But back then nobody would expect that quarterfinals will be hardest in history of ICF events so far. The scores were just huge! I had 3 really nice runs, which could be scored over 1000 each, unfortunetly got them at 740, 670 and 790 which put mu at 13th place. Well, i did improve my score from Millau and from prelims but it was kinda bitter to miss the semifinals again especially as in last run i went for perfectly exectued McNasty but flashed after landing and in 2nd run i got sweet combo space godzilla to cartwheel to tricky woo but unfortunetly 2 of them were after the time. If any of them worked, i would get to finals, and who knows what would happen next? Especially as for me my rides were already quite nice and i would give them more points but it's always hardest to judge for yourself. I just hope to do better in next event here in Sort. Also i was kinda unlucky in Squirt man as i finished up at 6th place, just before final cut. There was feature bonus in the hole, and as i picked to go for more flatwater & squirt routine – i didnt get as many points as others.

After this it wasnt end for
me yet! Had my duties as judge and also took the mic for speaking in
K1M for fellows that proceed! The semifinals there were also amazing
and surprising as winner of first world cup – Seb Devred didnt make
it to finals! Finals were accompanied by very hot Catalunian
atmosphere as local hero Quim was fighting for medal there –
getting to super fast runs but not good enough to hit the top 3 and
in 3rd one killing it and taking medal along with Matthieu from
France and Dane from USA. Peter was 4th and Abel came 5th.
Next day after finals we
left straight to Sort- for last event of Wolrd Cup. The hole here is
very demanding, to be more direct, it's huge! Super strong , trashy
on the right but wavy and flushy on the left! The competition here
will be completly different as it's super hard to link any moves,
there werent too much trainings so it's mostly about adapting to
completly different feature! Bring it on!
