May’s been quite busy month for
me, as I’ve spent most of summer semester paddling, I had to catch up at my
universites and there was plenty of it as a part from kayaking i’m still at two
faculties. Luckly, I’ve managed it and right now i’m nearly done with more then
half exams, but it’d cost me quite a lot of my day time. Fortunetly, May was
picky month at Poland, and a part of excelent hot and sunny days, we had some
serious storms, which provided us plenty of water in our rarely working rivers.
I could say so far for me it was a month of golden fever kayaking as with FATH
group we have paddled Białka, Konina and Kacwin which are some of most desireable
rivers in our region. Konina is a beautiful, small river, which after rain becomes
narrow, stip and fast creek with some great rapids, while Kacwin is a little
bit calmer, but on the end of the run it offers 6m waterfall with safe pool. All
of them were morning actions, which have allowed me to keep up with my
trainings in night and stay focused at studing in day time. Of course don’t
take me for some kaind of nerd who does nothing, but studying, it has all just
acumulated for me. Despite of this, i kept on paddling every possible day,
most, at the course, at tiny wave, but
also kept on working at our bottom feature, which unfortunetly still needs some
improvements. Except those, we went to one of coolest playspot in the region –
Wietrznice. Even though it’s shallow and forgotten by polish scene, I love
coming back over there and playing around where i’ve started, but as water
levels were pretty high it was a decent playspot.
Thanks to rains, and flash
flooding of some rivers in mountains, the water has finally came up in Raba letting us try The Zarabie Wave. Best levels
were in morning, then water was dropping quickly. Unfortunetly we got there
just after noon, as in the morning i had freestyle exhibition at kid’s festival.
When we got to the wave, the water has dropped already in significaly- nearly
half meter. Anyway it was still surfable litte wave and me & Maks have
spent some time playing on it. The wave has no eddy service and you have to
walk all the time up the stream but there are a lot of places where u can get out
the boat after flash. I can definitly tell, it will be awesome at higher water
level. In next week there should be some proper storms, so hopefuly it will
come up again. This time maybe for longer.
Beggining of June, we left to
Plattling for first event of this year- Euro Cup. We got new member to our
crew, MIchal’s sister- Agata, she just
had opportunity to try out kayaking few times before the event but she loved it
so much - that she was keen to go with us. So along with her, Adam, Max and
Michal left cracow in our fun bus. Here is short write up of the trip form
Michał.
We got
to Plattling at 6:00 at Thursday and went for the morning session. The water level
was really high, so we’ve had a great time on training. After this we’ve had
breakfeast and went to sleep as everyone was exhausted after all-night-road. Next
day there were preliminaries and luckly all juniors from our crew have made it
trought. Unfortunetly Adam and Bartosz mess it up and didnt get to next round.
It was surprising for us, because we weren’t able to perform as many tricks as
others at this competitions but thanks to good technical plans of our runs, we
surpass better prepared rivals.
At
Sunday morning we’ve planned to go kayaking after breakfast, and then go home.
However, our plans got messed up, as we’ve found out that our car engine won’t
start. Luckly, after some help from friends we’ve managed to fix it. Then
already on the way three kilometers from Poland we ran out of fuel. Lucklyy we’ve
found the guy that helped us.
Right now, after all those
adventures, we are on the way home, but just to pick up few things and moving
straight to to Warsaw without even
stopping, where tomorrow morning, with Ondra, we are cathing plane to Moscow,
where we get picked up by Stas and had to Norther Russia for russia championships-
Tivdia competition. Cant wait to get there and surf that sick wave.
